LM7 5.3L engine differences.

I'm looking for a used engine for my 2005 silverado. Got coolant in a cylinder and took it out. The truck has an 8th digit "T" engine code, which I believe means its a LM7, 5.3L engine (cast block, 295 HP). I've also been told that I need an engine out of a 2005, 2006 or 2007 vehicle for a 1:1 swap. For some reason, I keep finding low mileage, early 2000s engines but can't find the correct year, at least around here. So what's the difference between a 2001-2004 and a 2005?

short block differences will be the weaker rods and different cast pistons, MAYBE camshaft but I don't think so. Head bolts will be shorter in pre 04 blocks but that has nothing to do with the performance or compatibility with your 05. You will have to swap your intake and exhaust manifolds since you have a DBW throttle body and some older LM7s had an EGR ports on the pass side exh manifold.
