Rev limiter

Hey guys I was entering the highway with my 05 chevy 5.3 with shorty headers and I floored it to get on the highway and my truck dropped to 1st gear and it bounced off the rev limiter like 3 times then shifted, it scared the crap outta me haha. Just wanna know if this will screw anything up or lead to anything and was it the shorty headers that caused it to do it? Thanks guys any info is appreciated
