06 Sierra, Change Trans fluid plus waterpump question

Wasup guys, been a while.

So I like to do routine check on my truck every month, pull fluids and inspect them, I siphoned out a little trans fluid from the dipstick tube as I do every month, and it was brown. Not black, not red like it should be but brown.

I was bored, so I ran to the store and grabbed 5 quarts of Valvoline Max Life ATF. The filter and trans fluid was just changed about 5k miles ago, again as I said I was bored and wanted to see if i could liven up the trans fluid a little bit.

Didn't drop the pan, i decided to go for my usual technique, every oil change i usually siphon out about a quart and swap it. So you could say I really just wanted to experiment. I siphoned out 5 quarts and then replaced it with new. Started her up, cycled through the gears, everything fine and dandy, take it for a test drive, about 20 minutes, everything seems fine. Come back home, and let her cool down. I kept the 5 quarts of old ATF, placed it on a white paper place, then took my small siphon, and pulled out just a syringe full and compared it to the old stuff. NO DIFFERENCE. Maybe just a half a shade lighter. Just wondering what your guys thoughts were. I can't seem to find a definitive answer on how many quarts, converter and all, a 4l60E holds, and by the way, is there different versions of the 4L60E for different year trucks? Im curious to know. I usually change the filter every 30-40k miles, but I use the siphon method to change usually a quart at a time just because its easier and I have never had an issue with it.

Also, trucks been leaking very small amount of coolant over the past year, its stayed the same so I've never really messed with it. I threw her up on the lift and it appears its coming from the water pump, although i can't tell if the waterpump itself is leaking from somewhere or If its just the gaskets, what do you guys think it is? i know these trucks have bad records with water pumps going out. Let me know!

Thanks!

12 qts for total fill. Probably would be best to do several pan drops. Change the water pump not just gaskets

Drop pan let it sit for a little bit and drip out. Say while doing water pump. Or take it to transmission shop and have them do adoption flush......
