AT cable retainer clip and plastic is busted 2005 1500 Z71

So I bought a 2005 1500 Z71 used a little over a month ago.  The more I was driving it, the more issues I've noticed.

While changing the AT fluid and filter, I noticed the plastic piece of the cable that fits in to the bracket at the pan was broken and "fixed."  It looks like the plastic retaining the metal staple clip broke off and they used superglue or epoxy. Of course when I removed he pan, it broke a part. The metal clip slides over the plastic piece that contains the cable, but there is nothing stopping the cable from moving when I shift gears.  So I can put it in to drive, but it won't go back in to park because there is too much slack and the cable bends.

So my question is.... do I have to buy a whole new cable?  Because I'd rather give myself a paper cut and pour battery acid in it.

Or... has anyone else come up with a solution that will hold?   I was thinking about using a hose clamp and tighten it down so the cable is fixed/snug in the bracket as a temporary fix.  It's supposed to rain tomorrow and I don't think I'll have enough time to do order the part at Oreilly's or Napa and do the cable replacement.

Go ahead and replace the cable. It is literally the easiest cable you will ever replace on any vehicle and the cable is inexpensive! The repair will literally take you less than half an hour. Why rig it for it to fail you when you need it the most. Fix it right the first time.
