cleaning the interior

Here is a crazy question.  What do you guys use to clean your dash?  I can't stand armor all, too greasy and shiny and they say windex dries out plastic.  Also, has anyone used that squeege from California Car Cover to dry their truck?  Does it scratch at all?  Thanks.

I don't use anything on the interior except a wet rag..  Usually the same towel I just used to dry off the outside.

 

The oils like armor-all don't work well w/the new painted plastic interiors..  Seen a friends peal.

 

Hate it when the West Texas dust sticks everywhere on the oil!

I used to be an avid ArmourAll fan but i recently tried the highly touted (on car care boards at least) 303 protectant.  I really like the performance of the 303.  It does a good job cleaning and protecting, and doesn't leave the greasy film that ArmourAll did.  Living on the very dusty Mexican border, i have to agree that the oily film seemed to attract the dust.  The 303 doesn't seem to do this.  It is a little pricey though.

Warm water and a rag.  I especially hate anything that puts a shine on my dash.  IMO  I don't need the glare from the sun in my eyes......though the beautiful wax job on my hood is ok.

I have used tonneau tonic on my dash. I had been using it on my extang tonneau cover since extang specifically said not use Amoral on it. Its a water based product and doesn't attract dust or make the dash real shiny. I don't know how the price compares with 303 protectant.

Since everyone else has commented on the Armor-All/dashboard issue, let me throw my two cents in on the California Water Blade you asked about. This thing is amazing! Beats the snot out of ANYTHING else, including my trusty Absorber. And no, it doesn't leave any scratches or marks. It DOES make the neighbors a little PO'ed, since it makes a heck of a squeeling noise until you learn how to use it. It takes some practice. And it is a little big for some of the tight spots. Other than that, I love it. Dries the truck in a 1/4 of the time it took to shammy. Only wish it came in a plastic case or something, like the Absorber. It's hard to store, and I'm afraid the blade will take a set if I just throw it in the bucket with the other car wash stuff.

I too am an avid fan of the Water blade.  Takes a while to learn how to use it, but once you get it down, it ain't no thang!  The 303 I use on anything that isn't steel or glass on the truck. Tonneau, dash, you name it.  Use the Meguiars tire dressing on the tares.  Almost empty bottle, gonna stop using it after it's empty.  Too greasy, and you can't drive it for about 1-2 hours or else it's all over the rocker pannels, and it sucks getting it off!

I simply use my dash duster.  If there is dirt or something, a wet rag.  Otherwise, Armor All, Finish 2001 or whatever else really doesn't work well on these granular plastic dashes.

 

That water blade works great on trucks but sucks on cars like the Aurora or Camaro that have a lot of contours/curves.

 

Funny thing is, even though it helps dry the majority of the vehicle quicker, it still takes me just as long as I end up detailing ever nook and cranny.

Well the interior of our truck gets cleaned once a year, the day before we go to the state fair.  What I've found to work best for us is first a vacuum to get the big chunks out, then some cleaner from our John Deere dealer that works pretty good.  Usually takes about two or three times on each piece to get it looking good.  Follow that up with Deere glass cleaner on all the glass and this farm truck is good as new.

I may have to try out one of them water blades, cause it is a pain drying off my truck and I need to be able to do it quicker cause out here it dries about 30 seconds after you wash the soap off, I have to wash and dry a side at a time to keep it from getting all nasty with water spots.  Stupid sun and heat.

 

As for the interior I just use some water and a cloth.

Anyone else wash your truck @ night?  I like to be finishing up just as its getting dark.  That way the sun doesn't bake the soap, hard water spots on.  I use the leaf blower to get the water out of the tough spots and partially dry it.  ..Damn mirrors and ext cab doors!  :angry:

 

The neighbors give me some funny looks out there in the dark using the leaf blower on the truck.   :0
