2017 2500 Sierra auto-folding tow mirrors possible issue

Long story short, got pinched on a narrow street with people parked on the side of the road and wound up swiping another vehicle's mirror with my passenger side's own.  Tow mirror wound up slapping and denting the passenger door right below the window and bounced back the other way.  The tow mirror in itself other than the contact point of where the plastic portion hit the other mirror isn't damaged, works fine, LEDs and turn signals work fine. 

 

Body shop is repairing the door and mentioned they noticed the mirror manually folded in contacts the door... hoping I that it's nothing more than losing it's home position and resetting it back since the contact but know it could possible be a hard stop issue.

 

Anyone dealt with anything like this before?  Any idea on an easy fix for this if a mechanical fix needs to be implemented?
