NICKinSC Posted September 1, 2018 Posted September 1, 2018 Hi fellas, first post. Got something odd happening to my trans. Its in my 2001 C3. Trans was rebuilt about 1,000 miles ago and the main shaft in the transfer case stripped out. So I pulled it and fixed the case. I git it back together and now my trans shifts very hard in all gears when it’s cold. Fluid level is full. Did not have this problem before I pulled the case. Heres the kicker. It shifts this way until I turn it off for 10 or so minutes. Then shifts like it should until the next morning or until it gets cold again. It has nothing to do with temperature. I know nothing about how AT works but i suspect a fluid circulation issue. Or a code is thrown when it’s cold and corrects itself one I turn the truck off for a few minutes. It hasn’t thrown any transmission codes. I also changed trans fluid and filter yesterday with no improvement.
Supreme Pizza Posted September 1, 2018 Posted September 1, 2018 I would check for loose wires or bad grounds around the t-case/trans. You could always pull the t-case out again, and then put it back in. Maybe the problem would get worse? Maybe the problem would go away?
NICKinSC Posted September 2, 2018 Author Posted September 2, 2018 None of that is an issue. There only one plug that goes to the transfer case, the speedo. It’s good to go. This morning I crunk the truck up cold. Drove it about a half mile to confirm a hard shift then parked it for 10 minutes. Jumped in it after it sat and it shifted perfectly. Im almost convinced it’s throwing a code when it’s cold and clearing itself after it sits a few minutes. (Turned off) Its unrelated to temperature and fluid levels being low, whatever it is.
