This is a post I pulled from a different website forum. Maybe this will give you a little insight.

"Got mine yesterday, went home on lunch hour to put it in. Did it in 30 minutes, you have to remove the allison's computer to get to the GM computer. Really like how it makes the allison shift firmer and faster. It seemed to cut out under WOT at first but it seems to doing it less and less. Maintaining a constant speed was never a problem, now its really hard to keep it under 90 mph. The acelleration is quicker and smoother. For some reason the change oil light came on when I first started the truck. I've only driven it for about 30 minutes so far, I really like what I have seen so far. I couldn't even chirp the 265" MTR's before - now I can light them up. Now I have to see how fast the 8.1 will really go w/o a speed limiter. Granted I believe a percentage of what we are seeing is the removal of torgue management but I also realize we would still have to pay to have that done also. So with all that said I believe any time you can pay around $8.00 per horse power that is a bargain. (Lyndon stated approx. 50 horse increase for the 8.1 divided by $397.00 for chip). Now I am thinking headers to let it breath.

2001 Single Cab Silverado, Pewter, 8.1/Allison, G80 locker, 265 GY MTR's, Magnaflow dual in dual out, 2.5 tailpipes, K&N drop in filter, WESTER chip "

I just ordered mine cp upgrade from Lynden at Westers and he was very informative and helpfull. Give him a call if you want more detailed information.

Yeah, I found it on mychevytruck.com! Glad to hear that the Westers woke up your 8.1 and I am hoping it will wake up my 6.0L as well. I feel confident about it based on everything I have read. As far as I am concern I am tuning the truck to what it should have been when it left the factory. Darn factory tuning! :thumbs::nono:

guys stop your whining

the 20% off deal is still good til the end of AUGUST

:nono::fume::fume::mad::mad:

NOW THAT YOUR HYPNOTIZED

ORDER ONE NOW !!!!!!!!!

1-888-WESTER1

I would but right now Lyndon says he does not have any cores for the 03's so I would have to send him my PCM let him program it and send it back to me. Could take 1 to 2 wks. I can't be without my truck that long - have to get to work! :thumbs:

The 20% off will bring the $595 down to $476 for the 03's but that is still a chunk of change! Also the 20% off deal does not include shipping and the cheapest I heard to ship to Canada was $50 - and that's just to get it there. I would also have to pay that to have it shipped back - I would think!

Don't worry, one day I will have my Westers! :wtf:

I need to pay off my debt first. Then it is the Exhaust. Then the PCM. Maybe if my family loves me they will get me a good chink of change for my Bday and Christmas. Or if not it is Tax my tax return gift. $315 is realy nice. But $400 is just as good once i have the money.

Well, don't get too confident. I've got the 6.0, and while I do notice some more kick, it isn't quite what I had hoped for. AAMOF, I've been speaking with Lyndon to find out what can be done to make it perform better (and to figure out why I'm getting that d@mn SES light!). Also, my gas mileage went into the toilet -- losing about 2mpg -- which isn't a good thing with gas going up around 30 cents a gallon around these parts. However, I've only had the PCM in for about 300 miles so things may get better. I sure hope so.

One thing that I don't dispute is the kind of guy Lyndon is, because everything you've heard about him is true. He's very informative, answers all your question and doesn't talk down to you. He even engages in small talk, so you never feel rushed on the phone. And he does all that at a time when he's probably busier then he's ever been. A truly nice chap.

    • You're better read than that Atlas. 😏   British science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke formulated three adages that are known as Clarke's three laws, of which the third law – that "any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" – is the best known and most widely cited.   Stribeck and the pivotable Hersey Number isn't voodoo nor snake oil. That part is physics. It's what marketing and bean counters do with it that is snake oil and voodoo.    Stribeck is the relationship between Hersey and the Coefficient of Friction. Within the Hersey Equation if viscosity and viscosity is 'Dependent' on.......heat.......and.......viscosity index or the temperature to viscosity slope.    Specifically Hersey is the viscosity AT THE TEMPERATURE IN THAT LOCATION FOR THAT SLOPE.   Hydrodynamic lubrication exist when the film thickness in the location is 3X the Ra roughness of the surface. This is irrespective of the hardness of the substrate. To obtain that thickness X viscosity is required for Y velocity at Z load. That's a lot of moving parts. It is also impossible to maintain in an ICE but nearly possible with a turbine under constant load.    What does that mean? Error heavy and operate light. Wear is inevitable but the rate of wear and the milage obtainable are a function of prevailing conditions and HABITS. The only penalty is viscous drag and at fractions so low as to be well worth the effort. Double the life, half the manufacturing carbon foot print. Greed is the only impediment.    The materials generated by SwRI are the RESULT not an estimation or a hypothesis.    Don't delude yourself sir, EV's have as many pitfalls as ICE's. We just don't know what they are yet and it will take longer to sort as MARKETING and GREEDY CEO's have had more time to polish the turd they are selling.
    • You can always count on greed to prey on ignorance and stupidity.    Friend bought a 2019 Ford Flex and asked me about using Valvoline R&P 5W30 in it. Told him give the miles on it and the fact it wasn't yet using oil that it was a good plan. He uses a Valvoline quick change shop for his oil service.   First they tell him that isn't the oil the OEM recommends. He told them he didn't care what the OEM thought. Then they floated the, "But it will void your warranty"    His reply was it's a 2019, there is no warranty and informed them their knowledge of the law was lacking.    Then they tell him 'But it will ruin your motor"!.    Mine to ruin he says. Finally they give in and charge him 150% the semi-syn price    Point it the brainwash is so embedded that even the service industry is drunk on their swill. The public is right behind them. Echoing the same lies on every forum and media platform. If the end goal is indeed EV then I'd say that ship is about built.
    • Diesel hit $6.00 here today at the truck stop.   Payed $2.79 for E85 today too.
