Console subwoofer question

I just did a console swap in my 03 2500HD. It has the sub built in and I assume also has the amp. Would it be possible to enable the amp for use only to power the sub? If it in fact doesn't have an amp somehow (I guess if maybe the junk yard removed it) would I gain ANY decent sound by hooking the sub itself to my 50x4 aftermarket head unit? If either of these things were possible, what wires would I have to locate and tie into either power or my subwoofer output on my head unit?

 

Not looking for life-altering sound, just maybe a little more fullness. I would also rather not remove the console again if I can help it as I just put it in.
