Just purchased a 2002 chevy 1500 z71

I just replaced my 02 RWD Silverado. I live in the rust belt and most of my issues are a result of that . The first issue was the rear brake dust shields disappeared from  rust. Luckily Dorman now has a 2 piece design that doesn't require the rear axle to be removed  to replace the shield. The biggest issue from early on was brake and fuel line corrosion. This was followed by the rear spring shackles crumbling into dust. Next came the tail gate pivot pins (again Dorman to the rescue with an improved design) Rocker panels are a consistent issue with 01 thru at least 09.  The death knell was the center bearing cross  and the spare tire mount cross members plates separating from the frame.  This may sound like I was disappointed with the performance but the opposite is true I replaced it with an '18.

Got my caliper changed.. No more stuck caliper
Easy job too on this truck! 30 minutes total from taking the wheel off to having it bled.

Luckily we don't use much salt up here, mostly sand. Not much rust though the truck looks relatively new underneath
