No, not cheaply or a free mod. Have to use a programmer. Preditor, HPP III, Westers...

Ditto!!!

GM has a 98 MPH speed limiter in your truck... it's not because the truck can't go faster, but rather because the truck can't go faster safely!!! You are limited by the rubber under your butt, and the stock tires can't handle that kind of speed!!!

Sure these trucks have enough motor to go fast, but until they can also stop fast and turn fast you're just asking for an accident in which injuries are pretty much guaranteed to you and anyone else in front of you that you involve as you roll over them.

The thought of having to haul 5K-6K pounds down from 70 to 0 in an accident-avoidance situation is enough speed governer for me. At over 100 MPH it would be crazy to think you are safely in control of your vehicle. Even if you heavily mod the brakes and suspension, these big trucks won't handle like a cycle. Mass is mass, and behaves as such.

You guys don't know anybody that can take the top speed limiter up a little? I have tires rated to 165, and I drive on a long 2 lane road all the time. If the guy in front of me is doing 70 (speed limit is 75), and I guy to pass him, I almost always hit my limiter. I think that's a lot more unsafe (especially if there's a 50,000 semi heading the other direction).

THis has been hashed out here so many times already, got to get a programmer or have Westers take care of it. Either route you will spend $300 to $400.

Oh, sorry I didn't see it an '03, probably a little more than that for Wester's.

AIII, you're my hero.

I've been trying to say this for years, and nobody would listen to me. This is why I believe Ford Lightnings are retarded, and should not be put in the hands of reckless teenagers - driving them like they can do anything.

Don't mean to make this a rant, but I hate Lightnings...

Oh yeah, and about the Autobahn, they sell the trucks with a higher limiter and better rubber so they don't blow up. I've seen pictures of the speedo sitting at 120 with the cruise control on from Euro spec models, but here in the US they give us cheapo tires and a speed limiter because they don't trust us to go over that in a pickup truck...

Yep AZ said it - Get yourself a programmer or the Westers PCM if you are looking for more performance improvements :chevy:

Good to hear these other guys never drive faster than posted speeds or do anything else that might be un-safe
