Rear Dome Light connected to the Brake Pedal?

On the way back home from the store last night, noticed a flicker with the rear dome light.  Couldn’t figure it out, thought it might be a street light.  But knew it wasn’t a street light unless the lights flickered all the way home.  It became clear once I started to back into the driveway, something was going on with the brake pedal and the dome light.  Once I parked I pressed the brake pedal a few times and each time the dome light flickered.  The truck doesn’t get washed that often, doesn’t get that dirty being on the coast and definitely rain not a problem in California.  Morning drops from the marine layer is about as much water the truck has seen in over a month, it’s an unlikely possibility those drops could have found their way to an exposed wire.

Never noticed this before and have been driving the truck since 2014.  Other than the flicker, the dome lights work normal on entry and exit.  So my question, is the rear dome light connected to the brake pedal?  If connected, why would it flicker now after nearly 5 yrs?  If not connected, why flicker?

Well that question was short-lived.  In accordance with #PI1268A, to fix the problem just replace both front overhead console lamps with GM P/N 23104411.  This PI applies to the following models;  2015 Cadillac Escalade / 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 / 2015 Chevrolet Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe / 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 / 2015 GMC Sierra, Yukon, Yukon XL.
