What is a Westers PCM?

I may feel really dumb after I get the answer, but what exactly is this Westers PCM everyone is talking about?

It's a replacement computer for your truck that adjusts things like timing/advance, ignition, fuel/air mix. The Westers PCM is considered one of the better ones out there insofar as it appears to improve horsepower and fuel efficiency better than other aftermarket PCMs.

I say "appears", because I don't have one.

so, does is it kinda like a hypertech or superchips programmer? is it adjustable? would it work with my existing programmer?

No, the Westers is a new PCM (computer) with a custom program done by Lyndon Westers. He has a lot of good feedback on his PCM's. Personally I don't think you can go wrong with it. However, The Diablosport has more functionality to it. You can view real time data on any GM 96 or newer, view/clear codes, adjust speedometer for tire and gear changes and you can get a custom tune from Diablosport made specifically for your truck and what ever mods you've done that will drastically improve your performance, it's worth checking out. As far as the Hypertech and Superchips go I think I would leave those two alone seems to me nobody is really happy with them. I have heard of a lot of guys getting rid of them to get the Westers or the Diablosport.

Yes, that's true. I am running 89 octane with no problems. I could probably run 87 if I wanted. All you'd have to do is use the real time diagnostics on the Diablo and watch your knock sensor to make sure your good to go!! If the octane is a problem for you, you could always back off the timing a little and it would solve the issue. Personally the higher octane is no issue for me. I figure its .10 more for 89 and .20 for 91. That figures for 89 octane $135 and 91 octane about $260 more a year in gas. I would bet that if you asked Diablosport for a custom tune that would allow you to run 87 they probably could and would?.

Ask yourself what you want? Personally I didn't want something I could not change or go back to stock, if I ever needed to. Also I wanted a scan tool so I could read codes, clear codes and get real-time diagnostics for both my GM's!

I believe you will be happy with either one you decide! The Westers sounds awesome and I have not heard anyone not liking it. As for the Diablo you can get custom tunes from MFG made for your truck. I think the Diablo is awesome.
