Started my truck with front abs sensor unplugged now abs light is on

Hi guys,

so I cleaned the hub surface and replaced my front abs wheel speed sensor today...when I started the truck the abs and brake lights came on...I realized I had forgotten to plug in the abs sensor up on the frame rail. I shut the truck off and plugged the sensor in and now I can drive around fine but the abs light is on...i checked the fuse and it’s not blown. Is this something that needs to be cleared by a tool? Do I need to log a certain amount of mileage to get the light off?

I would disconnect the battery, turn the ignition on, wait 30 minutes, turn key off, reconnect battery.

That will clear out all the OBD2 codes.

If that doesn't work, check your ABS module grounds.

Lastly, have the ABS codes scanned or buy a cheap ABS code reader on eBay for around $25 or so.

P.S. Any decent auto repair shop will scant he ABS codes for free, and write them down for you. If the shop refuses to do a 30 second code read for free, then they are ONLY interested in your money, rather than helping you. Move on to the next repair shop.

Thanks for the reply!

so as it turns out my pass side ABS sensor was ruined when I removed it to clean the build up of rust on the hub surface. I reinstalled it and did not realize it has broken off in the hub. I replaced it and now the abs light is off, and no more abs activation when slowing to a stop!!!!
