Magnaflow and Silverado SS tailpipe

Hello all, I have a stock 03 Silverado RCSB 2wd. I'm looking to replace the exhaust system with a Magnaflow. I can't decide whether to go with their cat back kit of just replace the muffler and add a tailpipe from a Silverado SS. What part number should I use for the muffler and does anyone know the size of the SS tailpipe and if it would work on a regular cab?

The Magnaflow muffler that's actually designed for the Vortec engines to keep interior noise levels down in 12579. It's a single 3" in and out but the inner core actually splits into two cores to help absorb sound. The SS tailpipe is 3.5", probably to big for a 4.8 or 5.3L engine, you'll loose low end torque. You could get a tailpipe from a Tahoe, Suburban, Avalanche, etc, they're 3" and stainless. A local muffler shop would probably give it to you free, it's just scrap to them.

In speaking to a speed shop today I was told it was a good choice for the 3" in/3" out single set up for the 5.3.

I also want to get an exhaust system but I want to make sure I do the right thing only once.

So is it better to get a 3" in /out then a 3" in dual 3" out? I want to run duals out the side but not sure if I should get a dual out muffler or single? what is the consencis SP? here

Mine's 3 in 3 out. If you go dual outlets, go with 3 in 2 1/2 out on the duals. The issue here is not to sacrifice low end torque with too little back pressure.

What's the skinny on finding the best online place to purchase Magnaflows? I see their list pricing and it's up there with Corsa and Borla, not what I expected at all. However, would like to hear a sound file on a GM, which they do not have. I want the side out, single if I can find the right place that offers the stealth deals on the price. Thanks fellas.

I got mine from a local dealer who also did the welding work. Although you can just bolt it in if you want. A lot of muffler shops won't warranty the work if you buy the system elsewhere.
