All Terrain X Lights - Bars vs. Lights vs. Pods

Recommended Posts

I have been way over researching  sports bar lighting for 2019 All Terrain X (2500hd). My personal preference would be two of the 7"-12" wide lights (mostly for aesthetics if performance is not degraded). As long as it's LED, is there a difference between lights, light pods and light bars as far as load requirements, or are they just generically referred to these names by the size?  Any obstacles that might be caused using "bars" instead of "lights"? Truck is used for field work and deer camp, moderate off road driving in areas with a lot of brush, wild hogs and no light. Looking for some extra forward illumination,  but also want some on the sides for making turns.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Whats important with lights is the wattage, size, and beam pattern.  Generally bigger physical size also means more wattage.  Also if you want to mount lights to the factory sportsbar you will want lights that are bottom mount and NOT side-mount if you don't want to end up drilling new holes.

There are tons of different beam patterns available but the 3 basic categories are flood, spot, and combo.  I wouldn't recommend going with purely floods as they waste a lot of light on the roof when mounted to the sports bar.

I mounted 2 12" 72W double row that have a combo beam pattern. 60° Floods and 30° spots.
