4.8, 5.3, 6.0, and 8.1

Are the 4.8 and 5.3 considered the new SBC's? And, if so, are the 6.0 and the 8.1 considered BBC's?

 

Note: I'm a senior enthustiast post-w#ore that posts questions like a dang newbie, so please be patient with me. I'm still learning.

 

Edit: Diesels like the 6.2, 6.5 and 6.6 don't count, right?

And the 8.1 is something lke the Mark VIII big block or something like that. I think I'm wrong so don't quote me on that

And incase you're still curious the 6.2 and 6.5 are two versions of one block, unrelated to the small or big block chevy engines, or any other GM engine.

 

The Duramax 6600 is a new animal unrelated to anything that came before.

as far as blocks..the 4.8 and 5.3 share the same bore different stroke.

 

the 6.0 and 5.3 share the same stroke but the 6.0 is a 4inch bore 5.3 is 3.5 bore.
