97GMCXLT
Hi all, have the stock tires 235/75R15 and rims on the burb..what is the largest 75 series, or widest I should say I can go to with these stock rims..and keeping somewhat the original height. If I would go to a 17 inch rim what would be the widest allowable tire to maintain the original heigth ratio? Thanks again for all the info in advance! Joe..peace <*)))><

asepgrad98
i know tires stores have a "fitment guide" that tells them the type of answers you seek. maybe you could call one, act like you want to buy sumthin and im sure they would look it up. ebod
If you stay with 75 series tires, then the wider you go, the higher your ride height will be. The 75 is the ratio of sidewall height to tread width. Thus for every extra 1 cm (i.e., 10mm), you'll get an extra 0.75 cm of sidewall height. Also, rim diameter alone does not provide enough information to determine how wide of tires you can use. You'll also need the rim width.
Highbeam
Stock rims, alloys, are 7 inches wide and 16" in diameter. 285/75r16s will fit without rubbing. My 98 came with 265/75s as stock. 235/75 are ridiculously small. Do the math to figure out tire diameter, but as I'm sure you know the wider you go the taller the tire within the 75 series. A more appropriate rim width would be an 8" for a 285/75 tire. No reason to go to a 17" wheel that I can think of.
