Electrical - Parking Lights Question

Hey guys I have a 2009 Silverado 1500 and I have a question that might be stupid but I’m lost. So I got amber grille lights off of eBay and was going to wire them up to the parking lights but with the knob on the dash turned to auto it doesn’t seem like my parking lights are on during the day in P, R, N or D only the DRL’s are coming on. When I switch the knob to both settings on the wheel to the right of auto they come on and work. I was going to use a fuse tap and get these boys hooked up to the parking lights and ground the other wire but before I get into it I just wanted to figure this out.

So just wanted to say I might be an idiot lol DRL’s come on during the day and parking/running lights come on at night?? Unless I turn the knob to parking lights next to Auto on the headlight control.

Yes DRL's are a seperate circuit, if you turn the knob to the left (after you take it out of park) the DRL's go off and stay off. '08 SLE by the way.
