Transfer Case Motor

Question on a 2005 Chevy Silverado 2500HD 6L auto trans w/auto 3 button transfer case. The 4 wheel drive light is on and cannot get it to 2 or 4Hi can you tell me if the transfer case motor has to be replaced.

maybe.  you'll have to actually diagnose what is wrong.  there are all kinds of things that could be wrong, from wiring, to the switch in the cab, to sensors, to the encoder, to the mode & range forks being worn.
