Installed a Jasper supposed direct replacement 5.3l. The new engine has a GEN iv CKP reluctor 58 tooth wheel. original 5.3l has a 24x reluctor wheel. No spark or injector pulse, no square wave signal. What now? Thanks Jim O'Neill

You got the wrong engine it seems.

You needed a GEN 3 replacement engine because not only is the crank reluctor different but so is the cam gear. Your 2005 truck is a 24/1x and the GEN 4's are 58/4x.

How many other things were different on this engine?

Was the cam sensor in the front cover?

Where are the knock sensors, in the valley or bolted to the side of the block??

cam sensor top center rear of engine, Knock sensors in the valley. I ordered from Jasper Engines by VIN and told them gas door label indicated it was a FLEX 85 octane version. They argue "They did look-up correctly!"

If that's the case the crank trigger shouldn't be a 58x because anything with the knock sensors in the valley and the cam sensor at the rear top of the engine is still in the GEN 3 engine line. So it should be a 24/1x.

2005ish was the first year of the AFM/DoD system I believe but that was only in the trailblazer/Saab/Buick SUV's and even those I thought were the older crank/cam trigger.

Maybe someone just grabbed the wrong reluctor wheel/crankshaft when building this motor. You could remove the front cover and see what cam gear is installed. They year truck should have a 3 bolt cam gear with the 1x pattern on it.
