2001 s 10 voltage drop

Glenn Scott

Question

I have a 2001 S10 the battery goes dead in about 3 days

I tried a drop test with meter it shows 75.1 amps I pulled every fuse and no change.

I don't know what to do next any ideas what I am doing wrong

Ok I did as you said pulled every fuse no change. The draw is 75.0 amps and you are right the battery does go down real fast.

Any other ideas? I am at a loss it  is going to shop next week unless I can fix it

You are not using your meter correctly.  If you have something pulling 75.1 amps your battery will go dead in about 15 minutes.  Easiest way to tell if you have enough of a draw to kill the battery is to disconnect the negative cable, connect a 12v test light to the neg post and touch the probe to the negative cable.  If the light turns on, it is drawing enough to run a battery down.  You can start pulling fuses then, but, remember to not have any doors open or any other light turned on, like the under hood light.  Nothing worse that chasing a voltage leak that was caused by your kid opening the door to watch.
