If the truck has 4.10's then it can handle a bigger tire. I'm thinking 285's would be the best size to go with.

If you have 3.73's you will notice the power loss a little bit more...

The problem with going with 305's is that it is technically too large for the stock rim, and in an emergency avoidance situation you could theoretically roll the bead right off the rim.

285's are probably your safest size bet...but since it's an HD 305's shouldn't be a problem.

Shaners, what about on a 7" wide rim? how likely would it poping the bead be?

I just upgraded my stock 245's to 265's and I can honestly say I would not want a bigger tire. I know that may sound crazy to many on here, but I have to be honest with myself, I just dont off-road enough to justify have that big of a tire, plus the truck with cranked torsion bars and 265's is just a hair to high to jump in and out of easily, I am sure step bars of some sort will be a necessity in your case, and personally I think they look gay and can get caught up on stuff on the trail. If its all about looks then I guess go for it, but I can already see the hit in mileage and of course a little less ohmppph with the bigger tires and its only been a week and half. Dont get me wrong I got some BFG's and I four wheel my truck pretty hard when I do, but its infrequent and most of the time on running up and down the highway so I want to keep the rolling resistance and noise down....sorry for ramling, caffiened out and up late reading/studying!!!

PS if you do change em I'll buy them if they are 17's!

Thanks for the input......

I picked it up last night, and they have 265's, and they look pretty good.

I guess the 17" rim makes the wheel well look full (unlike when i brought my HD home....it looked goofy).....

thanks again..
