Tailgate Speakers 2019 Sierra

Hi all.

 

Got a new 2019 Denali recently. Wondering if anyone has installed speakers in the cutouts in the tailgate, made specifically for speakers? Or, if anyone has an alternative suggestion for what to do with those cutouts? Lights etc. It's kinda weird to just have those squares there doing nothing.

GM offers Kicker speaker system that goes in there - hooks up to your phone via blue tooth.  I have it in my 2019 AT4 Carbon Pro - came standard - since it did not come on your truck I am not sure I would  buy it from dealer - while it integrates with truck systems seemlessly and that makes the install convenient, the sound quality of the speakers is pretty poor - after about 3 months mine only worked here and there - dealer could not figure out problem - so said would have to replace whole thing under warrranty.  Then called back and GM said they would not warranty it to that dealer, as it is dealer installed, so they felt it was install error - so had to go back to dealer who installed - I bought the truck in Phx and I live in S.Cal - so that was not happening - so I just left it not working all the time for a few months.  Next time I was at the dealer, they said they got the part in even though the warranty had been denied so they , went ahead and put it in for me, no charge - so nice of the dealer to do that for me.  New one has been in there since January - no issues - as soon as you open up the step, so the speakers are showing - it jumps to bluetooth on your phone and starts playing whatever son you have que'd up.
