i saw that last product in a street trucks magazine the other day. said running like 8psi gave the truck 415 hp at the wheels. and when bumped up to like 15psi it was pushing somewhere around 500 at the wheels. not bad if it really worked

What that guy is proposing and the STS turbo are two different things. The STS turbo is a regular turbo, just mounted in a funny place. And yes, strange as the mounting position is, they do work quite well.

 

What the guy in the original post was proposing was a kind of "fan" to suck the exhaust gases out, rather than having the engine fight backpressure. It might have some positive effect, but you would needa cam with no or very little overlap to keep from sucking some of the fresh fuel/air out through the exhaust. And of course it would take power to drive such a fan, so...
