Door handle movement

I have maybe 3/8 of an inch of movement in my exterior door handles before the spring kicks in and pushes them back in is this normal or are my handle springs worn? It is in the handle not the shroud. I have a 05 2500hd ext cab it's in the front exterior door handles.

Springs could just be spent, or possibly some debris is causing a little extra friction.

I looked the springs are bad (lost tension) im just gonna get some new handles at a scrap yard
