brake light switch power

I dont have power to the orange wire at the pedal brake switch.  i have power through the brake fuse in engine compartment. i assume i have a bad (shorted) wire between there and the switch. can someone confirm that has a schematic if there is anything between the fuse box and the switch? Depending on the Model and year of the truck , there may not be power to that wire unless the ignition switch is in the "on" position.
