Rpms dropped to zero while cruising.

You

Ive got a 2014 6.0 gasser. I was driving down the highway crusing at 60mph when I noticed my truck shuddering. I looked at my rpms and it was showing 0! The truck would accelerate if I pushed the gas but it wasnt pretty and it wasnt fast. Still showed 0 rpms as well. I pulled over and turned it off and on again. The engine would turn over but it wouldnt start up. 5 minutes later I started it again and it drove and ran like normal for a mile or two to the house.

I'd only be guessing here but it could be a possible crank/cam sensor issue if the engine ran poorly and the tach went to zero.

It's going to need to happen again with a scanner hooked up to see what the possible problem is.

Yes, took to a mechanic and he diagnosed the crankshaft sensor with his scan tool. Oreillys scan tool didnt find anything. I'll be replacing it tomorrow morning after work. The truck ran fine to mechanic and work this evening so idk.

 Thanks for replying.
