About what should you pay for a good paint job?

Just out of curiosity, about how much should it cost to repaint an extended cab truck with a quality paint job (not maaco or low quality jobs)?

I just paid $1800 for paint on a 1994 GMC standard cab only - only a 2 door cab and no work on the bed. $200 of that was for a new metal hood. But I didn't replace any door trim or emblems - just removed them and left them off.

 

But I just got it back from the shop late last month. We'll see how long it lasts.

 

Does anybody have any tips for taking care of the new paint?
