Do not order from truckaddons.com!!!

Well, I ordered a Westin push bar and a set of titanium daylighters for my birthday from truckaddons.com. 6 days after the order was placed I recieve an email saiying Westin no longer makes this particular piece. A minor setback, not their fault, could have responded faster but oh well. They said the Smittybuilt makes a very similar one for $40 cheaper, so I go with that and figure Ill just use the difference as part of paying to just overnight it. So i paid $80 to overnight, products arrived when said. I opened the push bar and all the pieces were there, but no hardware whatso ever!! So I spent $80 to not even be able to install this thing before I head out of town for the week!! I really wanted to show my family this but now cant. Well after emailing back and forth with "customer service"( I wouldnt call it that now) they say that its not their fault and I need to contact Smittybuilt and get the hardware. I cant even do that until monday now since its the holiday and they are closed. They said they will not refund any of the money I spent to overnight. So I spent $80 to get the product next day and wont be able to install it for over a week now. I think I should be entitled to the $80 back since I wanted the product so quick and wont be able to get it!!!

With all due respect, your problem is not with 'truckaddons. but with Smittybuilt who neglected to include the necessary hardware in their product.

Give me a break Hans....Don't you think that a good supplier would just rip the hardware set from another box and ship it to him and then deal with smittybuilt themselves instead of giving the customer the run around.I know if I was managing a buisness thats the way it would be handled .....

At the very least, TAO should have informed you that the hardware wasnt included (if it wasn't supposed to) or overnighted the missing parts to you and handled smitty themselves.

I have been told that with margins as low as they are now, internet retailers can't afford to give true customer service.

Yeah, they aren't the best people to deal with in person either! The have a local shop, called Trailblazers, I guess Truckaddons is their parent company. It's like they don't want to help you because you are bothering them. I've bought a few things from them in the past, but no more. The guy I buy from now used to work there, but he branched off and formed his own business about 2 minutes from my house. He was the only reason I went to Trailblazer's. If he wasn't working, I'd just tell them I'd come back when he was. Chris

Most internet retailers don't stock the items. They are shipped from parts warehouses direct to your house, so it is very possible that truckaddons did not have a smittybuilt item in their little store that they could have scavanged the parts from.

These guys are just middlemen that make a few bucks on each transaction.

By no means am I support this retailer by stating this... I'm just saying that most online retailers will all ship out of the same warehouses (which are closest to you). When you shop around online for the best price, the item will mosat likely come from a standard warehouse and the better price means that the middleman made a smaller profit...

I had a slight problem with TruckAddOns myself. It wasn't their fault as much as Westins, when I bought my Oval Tube Steps. Westin said they would be realesed on "X" date and to list them as available. Westin missed their date by 4 months or more, and at the time the transaction server that Truckaddons used automatically charged my card when the order was placed rather then when the item was shipped. I was pissed that I had paid a bill for an item that was never recieved, and I was offered a credit to my card after I raised a little crap.

I agree that your problem is with SmittyBuilt. In fact probably in your instructions it gives you a "1-800" number to report missing parts for replacement.

It sucks that you spent the extra cabbage to get everything done right-a-way, and that now you are screwed. It happens to me all the time, so don't feel too bad!!! If there are 100 identical items on the shelf, and one is defective, then that is the one that I end up buying!!! LOL!!! :D

Well, please dont. The only way I feel I can win at this is turning people away from doing business with them. Go to stylinconcepts.com, truckperformance.com or performanceproducts.com to buy stuff.

Just an update: I emailed them asking that they take the hardware from an instock product and send it to me. They said no, its not my business and thats not the way this industry works. They said its up to me to contact smitty built to get the hardware. What a bunch of BS. Im going to try and talk to the owner monday

If you do speak to Smittybuilt, I would be sure and bring up the fact of the crappy customer service that they have given you. Be sure and whine good so it leaves an impression. I'm sure they care about the reputation their dealers carry.

Oh i will be sure to do that, thanks. The customer service rep I had been exchanging emails with just responded again, saying his name is not important and that they are blocking my emails and dont care what I have to say due to my demanding coments. I mean WTF, when I spend $80 to overnight and dont get what I pay for, d**n straight Im going to be demanding!!!

    • This is a 1/2 ton thing ONLY.  All HDs 2020-2026 have the two speed transfer case, with Autotrac as an option.     1/2 tons 2019-2026, regular 4x4s come with a single speed case (no 4LO!), and trucks with Z71 ordered, or all Trail Boss trucks come with the 2 speed case.  2 speed case is also an option on WT, and is also standard on High Country.
    • 2013 5.3 still to this day calls for the PF48 filter.  Which as a 15psi bypass pressure.     There is a TSB, 17-NA-157 that talks about the PF-63 and PF-64 filters which have a higher bypass rating of 22psi.    TSB HERE - temp.xml   "Beginning in 2012, the oil pumps began to regulate main gallery feedback instead of pump out pressure. This means that the oil pump now does not begin to regulate until pressure is built up to the main gallery. This change reduces the amount of time it takes to provide oil to the engine bearing and lifters during extreme cold start conditions.  Main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are present on the following engine families which use Spin-on oil filters: Small Gas Engine (SGE), Large Gas Engine (LGE), High Feature (HFV6) Gen2 and Small Block Gen5 gasoline engines. These engines with the main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are factory built with an ACDelco® oil filters"   It also calls out what engines use those filters.  The gen 4 small blocks were not on that list (LMG, LC9, L9H, L92, L94, L20, L96).  Gen 5 small blocks use the higher pressure filter.          That all said...   Your 7045 Napa filter is the PF63 equivalent, with 22psi bypass.  You are already using the higher bypass pressure filter.  You CAN keep using it, you don't technically have to use it though.
    • Do you know WHY the filter relief setting was increased to 22 psig?    When the new system goes into the second stage the pump volume ramps up considerably. It was found that the 15 psi filter bypass setting put the filter in bypass on a warm engine when the second stage was activated. Raising the filter bypass setting forced the filter to do what it designed to do. Filter. Preventing debris from circulating during high load, high rpm operation.    So next question is how did GM find this out? VLOM/lifter failures and a deep dive by Melling Corp.    Last question. Is it required? Look at it like this; a motor may be equipped with a rev limiter. But it only works if the set point in reached. That 22 psig setting only matters if the pressure differential across the filter media exceeds 15 psig during normal warm operation. Second stage kicks in around 3000-3500 rpm.    I can't answer your question because I don't know you and how you use the truck. But I think there is enough information here to let you decide for yourself. 😉
    • Probably not their first rodeo, so it should go as planned most likely.  Typically the service manager or tech doing the swap will put some seat time to shake it down after they get it all put back together.  We usually put 50-100mi before we hand them back so if something happens, its not after you get it.  A coolant leaks, oil leaks, a ground left off or loose, vibration, etc.     The new engines so far have been good?  There's been a couple that have popped out there again (the replacement engine) but most have been okay.
