I am getting wheels from an H2, along with the 315/70 R17 BFGR AT-KO's. I am looking at getting a 6" lift for the truck, desert rat recomends fabtech. What is your opinion? Also, anyone here have a simiar truck with a 6" lift. It is a 2001 GMC 2500HD reg-cab long bed. Also how much decrease in power will I experience. I have the 8.1L with 4.10 rear and 6spd manual tranny.

Thanks for any info

I have a Superlift no problems with it. Skyjacker makes a new one that you can take off and put oem parts back on. A friend has a procomp on histruck. Problems with the CV joints binding up when the suspension is at full extension. Fabtech is a good choice check out their 8' lift.

I have a 6" Superlift on my 2500HD 6.0 and love it. With this lift you can easily crank it to 7.5" which is great if you want 36"s. I liked how the front tires were kept in with this lift compared to fabtech or some others. Note though, that if you go with the superlift and you use 4 wheel drive you MUST get the replacement front driveshaft. A lot of stores include them in the cost of the lift so do your research.

You may want to check with Fabtech to find out if the backspace of the Hummer wheels will work with their spindles. I have a RCD 6" on my 03 duramax 4x4 and you can't have more then 4.5" backspace with a 16" wheel.

IMHO ProComp 6" or Superlift 6" is the only way to go.

Both are a True 6" kit with Flat CV shafts, and both are easily crankable to 7"-7.5"

I researched this a LOT before making my decision. Based on what was available for my '02 2500HD 4x4, I picked the Fabtech. Even the guys at 4 Wheel Parts declined to recommend their own ProComp kit. I called all over the country talking to people in various shops and Fabtech was chosen the most often.

It's not the #1 best system out there. From what I've seen CST and RCD are probably the best in terms of quality of components. But for street and occasional offroad use, the Fabtech is well proven--and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. As for its lift; it's probably about 5" at the front. If you want to run nothing bigger than 35s/315s, just a little crank of the torsion bar and you're good to go.

Let us know what you choose.
