Modify seat track

I'm looking at possibly buying a 2004 Silverado and with me being 6'9" I was hoping it would be possible to modify the seat some how to move it back more. I was wondering if anyone has looked to see if you can modify the track so you can get more travel. Either that or I could always adjust where the seat mounts to the track or adjust where the track mounts to the truck.

Thanks,

Are you looking to buy an extended cab or reg cab? I'm 6'6" and I fit pretty comfortably in an ext. cab, but the reg cab, no way! If you get bucket seats, I don't see why you would have any trouble remounting the seat. It's usually just 4 bolts in the corners holding them down. You will probably have to drill some new holes, then I'd advise you to add some sort of support for the new bolts, like a 1/4" thick piece of metal. Use it as a washer. Go Grade 8 with the bolts, you should be fine. Chris

I'm definitely looking at an extended cab. I would like to avoid drilling new holes to move the seat back if I could because then this might limit the ability for shorter people to drive the truck. I was hoping to be able to do something similar to what these guys did.

This might be another possible solution.

If anyone has done this or has looked at the seat tracks to see if this is possible I would greatly appreciate your input.

Thanks,
