01 Tahoe: Replace middle bench with captain's?

My buddy's 2003 Yukon has the captains chairs from the factory. They are basically just like the bench, but without a seat in the middle. They aren't really any more comfortable and you lose a seat. The only thing is you can get to the back seats easier with them.

Hey, I also noticed in your posting signature that you have the GM 3400 alarm. Did you install it or have it installed? I just got one on eBay but haven't installed it yet. Could use some pointers or tips/trix.

Thanks man,

Ed

I also got my 3400 alarm on ebay, for just $25 (there were no other bidders). Installation could not be easier, you just unplug the bcm or whatever it's called under the drivers side dash (there are 3 cables), plug those cables into the alarm module, then plug the 3 supplied cables to the alarm module and bcm. Plug in the shock sensor and tie wrap it somewhere, plug in the alarm led (I ran mine up the A pillar so it just pokes out at the top of it, no mounting necessary, it looks GREAT there - it can't be missed). I did not use the siren so the horn honks with different length honks for the different alerts, etc.

Even though my hoe has the auto-cutoff interior lights, etc, I did manage to run down the battery while setting some of the alarm options after the install. Also, the shock sensor is not very sensitive - I am wondering if it might be defective (and that's why they are selling so cheap on ebay???) - I can very lightly tap the sensor box and the alarm will go off, but I have not yet been able to make it go off by hitting/bumping the vehicle - and, I do have the sensitivity set as far sensitive as it will go, and I have experimented tieing it to other cables or to the steel lower instrument panel crossmember (that's where I have it now). Otherwise it works great.

My hoe already had the factory remote keyless entry (and content alarm) and the 3400 integrates seamlessly with it. If you don't already have remote keyless entry then I think you would need a different model.
