I have a 2002 Chevy Suburban 2500 4X4 8.1L with a 4L85e. As I'm running down the highway it will feel like the transmission goes into neutral for about a 1/4 of a second. It's an intermittent problem so I cant really recreate it, it just happens. On some rides it wont do it at all and on others it will do it several times. It doesnt seem to matter if its summer or winter it'll do it. It does seem to only ever happen after the trans has warmed up.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated

If it's the transmission doing this, your tachometer will jump up during the time it feels like it's hitting neutral. If it's not doing this, it could just be an engine misfire.

Easiest thing to do is check the transmission fluid HOT, and make sure its in, or at the top of the crosshatched area on the dipstick. Next easiest thing would be to throw a scan tool on and check for any current or pending codes. If the check engine light is on, there are current codes stored. That will give you some direction. Live data on the scan tool can also tell you if any misfires are happening, and on what cylinder(s).

Thank you! I will take a ride tonight and record it with HPTuners. It's tough to see if there is a jump in the RPM's cause it happens so fast. I'll let you know what I find.
