2014 Chevy Silverado 4WD off message

So I was in 4hi trying to tow my car backwards up a hill and I was just spinning on the hill so I unhook and go to reposition and hit the gas hard and spun while unhooked and my screen says 4wheel drive off. After trying to switch to 4WD again in park, neutral, and every other gear, the indicator light was stuck on 4high and the indicator light wouldnt come on in any other position and was stuck in 2WD. I winched it up the hill and drove it a bit and then it switched to all the positions but when I put it in 4high and spun the tires it would say 4WD off again and do the same thing. It stays in 4high as long as I don't spin the tires. And when it does kick off it takes a bit of driving before it will let me switch to 2 and 4WD  positions. Any help is appreciated. I’m scared it’s something major and will cost thousands
