Hey guys, I have a 2019 Silverado with the LED lights in the back. These LED lights failed after about 80,000 km and the dealership wants 1100 plus tax for each replacement LED brake light, left and right side.

I bought aftermarket LED's from RECON, but the resistors that they come with fail after a few months. I have had to replace them twice.

Is it possible to just buy the regular old halogen brake lights with wiring harness and just plug it into the truck? Since the aftermarket LED lights come with a resistor, that leads me to believe that the truck wiring harness itself is not LED specific. So you could plug in any type of light, and if its halogen then no resistor is needed to make it work.

That way I only need to pay about 200 dollars to replace the failed lights instead of 1100. I don't care if they are LED or halogen, they both light up just fine, so its not a big deal.

You need aftermarket lights WITHOUT the resistors. The ones you have are meant for a non LED equipped truck. There are a few out there.

They come with a harness with resistors that you plug in if you have halogen lights stock, or will connect directly to the factory harness without the resistors if you have factory LED lights.
