Lift Kit Throttle Spacer

Yesterday while my '01 Tahoe was at the dealer getting a new fuel pump, I had them check out my cruise control that hasn't worked since I bought the 'hoe 10 months ago. Well, they tracked down the problem to a spacer installed on the throttle cable when a lift kit was installed. As you know, I installed a 3" body lift a few months ago but this spacer wasn't part of my kit. So, now I am wondering if there was a lift kit installed on this tahoe before I bought it. Does anyone know if there is a throttle cable spacer on any other lift kits? Suspension lifts maybe?

 

Anyway, the reason I told them to look at it is because my cruise control was very slow to engage and wasn't working properly. The technician said that this spacer was unneeded and was making the throttle cable 1" too long causing the cruise to take longer to spool up and engage. Now that this spacer is gone, my tahoe has much better throttle response and really moves again! I have thought something was wrong with it since I bought it but especially after adding bigger tires I have noticed it being very sluggish. Well all that is gone now and it hauls like a raped ape!

 

 

So does anyone know what this spacer is for? And where does it install?

I did both a 6" suspension lift and a 3" body lift on my Z71 and neither one required any spacer on or near the throttle cable/body. Is your body lift made by Performance Accessories? Mine is and like I said, no spacer comes w/ this kit. Did you install it yourself? If not, you could call the shop that did the instal.

I don't recall installing any type of throttle spacer when i installed my body lift. Sounds kinda fishy.

Yes, I installed my PA 3" body lift myself and this "throttle cable spacer" was not installed by me. I bought the Tahoe used so it was something the previous owner did. I just don't have any idea why it may have been put on there.
