Everyone see the Car and Driver today?? The compared Chevrolet 1500 Crew Cab, Ford F150 Crew, Toyota Tundra Crew, Dodge 1500 Crew and the new full size Nissan Titan. The Chevy got LAST!! I couldn't believe it! I figured it'd be a hands down for the Bow Tie bunch, but they said it was uncomfortable and had a "weak motor" for a truck as large as it was. Results were as followed:

5) Chevy Silverado 1500 Crew 5.3L

4) Toyota Tundra Crew

3) Dodge Ram 1500 Crew Hemi

2) Ford F150 Crew w\ Triton 5.4

1) Nissan Titan

That little Titan had a 5.6L DOHC V8 that produces 305 hp. Thats only 10 more ponies than the Bow Tie, and they call the smaller 5.3L "weak"...what gives? Maybe GM shoulda gone 6.0?

Anyone else think Danika Patrick (Spike TV-Powerblock girl) is hot?

It's obviously a biased comparison. Anyone with a head with a brain in it knows that the only underpowered fullsize truck (which is not a FULL size truck) is the Toyota Tundra. As far as the rest, the dodge cc doesn't seem any bigger than the Ex. cab chevy. And of course they would pick the Titan, it's new, it's an import, it makes perfect sense. For all this talk about the Titan, it sure doesn't do it for me! I test drove one just for the fun of it. It drove nice, which is typical for an import, but I didn't think it was any better than my 97. At 6'5" I fit in my truck 10 times better than the Titan, not sure if it's supposed to be bigger, but it sure doesn't feel like it. Maybe I just really like my truck, but my 5.7 seems to get off the line a whole lot better than the Titan with 33's and 4.10's, plus I know my truck weighs a lot more. The one I test drove has been on the dealers lot since December, it's got 23miles on it. I would be surprised if the Titan sells over 50K models in a year. Even though the market is a big one for trucks, Nissan is a little late to the party, plus, how many Frontiers do you see. I see maybe 1 Frontier a day, and only 1 Titan on the road ever, compared to hundreds and hundreds of GM, Ford, Dodge, and Toyota's. Time will tell, but I just don't see the Titan selling more than Toyota, and it'll be a cold day in  before it sells as much as the any of the Big 3. Chris

I just fout "out" of an '03 Ram "crew" for my new '04 Chevy CREW and the Chevy has the Dodge beat all the way around. Better ride, four real doors that make a true CREW cab, and just a better built truck all the way around. Dodge patterned the Ram "crew" after their Dakota "crew" and those rear doors are tiny and difficult for an adult to exit the vehicle. I've got the 6.0, and while it can be thirsty if you've got a lead foot, wouldn't have one of those gulping gas Hemi's.

Whoever has the newest truck wins.. simple as that

That says it all right there!!!

My uncle has an 03 Dodge 1500 "crew cab" 2wd with the 4.7 engine. It has plenty of power, but has LESS leg room in the front than my '00 Chevy ext cab does. Getting in and out of the back seat is a chore and there is not much room. (I am 6'2") and quite frankly, it drives and rides like a crate! Hell, my old '79 K-20 rode nicer than this truck does. The interior is squeeky and rattles with only 33k on it and when you hit bumps in the road, the front doors shake and let in wind noise.

I think the Dodge is a turd and the last generation of truck has better interior quality than this one.

As for the others, all the magazines praise the new truck, no matter what it is. It is their job and their advertisers see to it.

As for the chick on Power Block, either one of them could snuggle right up to me anytime! :jester::crackup::nono:

I saw the comparison and never yelled so much at the TV. The Dodge is not a crew its an ext cab with regular doors so how is there less leg room in the chevy? The dodge also cost more than the chevy yet they bitched cause GM was to expensive  . The chevy interior was commented as being to old...the truck was redesigned LAST YEAR :wtf: The dodge finishes above chevy yet has low ground clearence, wasn't this an off road test in the desert? so wouldn't that matter? :wtf: The interior shot of the tundra could also be used for interior shots of a camry but the seats were "soft and supple", they looked like boards with cow hide over them. Oh chevys was not very comfortable btu from experience double as a lazy boy. the Ford had the worst test results yet finishes second :wtf: and the Titan wins cause its the cheapest; all the vehicles had leather expect the titan, so yes a base model will cost less than a fully loaded vehicle. These guys ought to run for office, i've never seen so much hypocracy and blantant lies, of course I don't subscribe to the magazine. In the end it all made sense as the editors bent over you could barely make out the Titan emblem glissening from the dark caverns of their asses.

On another note I did like the farrari review I know if I had 300K to spend on a car I would consult a tv show for guidance in that purchase.

unfortunately this is definately true. When Chevy debuted their C/K in 1988, it was top dog. Then ford(note the spelling  ) then dodge. As of late, Dodge took truck of the year honors, and now Ford. Guess who's next...

one thing about he interiors- CHEVY HAS A TRUCK INTERIOR. Ford had one out of the explorer and nissan is about the same with the floor shift and everything. Dodge grabbed their design from the caravan. Toyota (copy of the last F-150) and chevy are the only ones that has an interior that belongs in a truck. I don't want to think about grocery getting suvs and minivans when I look at a trucks dash

We'll see what the sales figures say at the end of the year....I predict it will be the same as it has been...Ford, Chevy and Dodge with Toyota and Nissan no where to be found. Magazines can say what they want but at the end of it all it's all about $$ and the big three can sell trucks! Afterall, the top three selling VEHICLES in America for 2003 were the F150, Silverado and Ram in that order!!

Wonder if they thought to mention to achieve their "powerful" HP numbers that the rice burners require 93 octane. At 1.80-1.90 a gallon for premium I'll take my "underpowered" Silverado anyday. As it has been said, all this is public relations for advertising dollars from Nissan. As far as interiors I'll give Ford its due; they've upped what is expected in dashes, trim, etc. and I do wish the General would step up the quality of its interior materials, but, as said above, you can't beat the Silverado on seats and general comfort. It may have finished last in this contest, but I'd love to have one of the new Silverado crews in my driveway.

Back in 2001 I wanted a Silverado. But I did not want to tamper with the success that I had with my bullet proof little 83 Toy 4X4 (I still own). So I bought a Tundra even though I have always liked GM full size trucks and the Silverado is what I really wanted.

With that said, those guys who said that the Tundra seats were "soft and supple" probably spent only a day driving the thing and maybe for less than an hour at a time. While the Tundra was an overall decent truck, the seats SUCKED! They were ok for around town but anymore than an hour they became outright uncomfortable. The 4.7 had good power for what it was.

Fast foward to 2003. I finally decided I had enough of the park bench seat and that my quad didn't fit in the oversize Tacoma bed. I Picked up my 2003 GMC Sierra SLT. Let me tell you, I have not looked back since!

It has better power than the Tundra. Yet it has abigger displacement engine pulling a heavier truck, it gets better gas milage than the Tundra!

I just finished driving from Northern California to Sheppard AFB, Texas to attend an Air Force Tech school for three months. The seats and ride of the GMC was awesome. At the end of each day of driving, I felt I could go another 500 miles.

Also, I have had fewer problems, and no gripes about this truck in as many miles than I did with the Tundra. I don't think the Tundra is bullet proof like the little Toyotas in the 80's. Afterall, they did reverse engineer a F-150. (I also got sick and tired of hearing "Nice Ford".)

As for the Ford, I hear ford guys saying "the Vortec is nice if you like pushrods."

WTF?! Lets see, the Triton is a more complex and elaborate engine set up yet for all that, it still isn't powerful as that "old push rod motor". Even after they add a third valve, it looks impressive but in all practicality it's still doesn't give much benefit for it's additional physical size and complexity. It's an improvement but it should REALLY kick ass. I drove one and, it was nice but I wasn't overly impressed given the hype about this motor. Seems like a law of diminishing returns applies here. But then again I could be biased here because I have had friends tell me that I seem to have an almost perverse hatred of Ford products. I've driven enough of them to know.

Bottom line, get what you want the first time, it's a lot cheaper that way.

Anything Car and Driver does basically needs to be taken with a grain of salt...

They automatically give the import better marks, just because it's an import, in every single comparison they have.

Do you guys really think that they'd be giving the Corvette's and Escalade's such high marks if GM wasn't buying so much advertising from them?

I mean really how the hell can they give the silverado THAT LOW of marks when they praise the escalades and ITS THE SAME DAMNED TRUCK minus some whistles and bells, etc?

Motortrend, Car and Driver, whatever .... all those "premeir" car mags are just totally bogus.....
