1500 gmc sierra arm rest(base) center console question

I have an 01 gmc sierra 1500 with the arm rest/ base center console. The non bench seat one.

 

The button mechanism was stuck inside the lid, was able to get it out and looking like where it’s supposed to be but it still won’t latch and the button doesn’t push and come back out like i would assume it does. 
 

Is this type of center console able to be taken apart or have the lid cover come off to check what’s going on inside. Anything i find is on the bench seat type center console, wasn’t sure if there is a repair kit or i just need to stop at the junkyard and grab the part.
