We’ve been doing this as long as can remember. Christmas Eve day my son and I go shopping. We used to go to Greens point mall just for the pizza at the food court. They now have one close to my house. They came from NY. Now it’s me, my son and his son with lunch afterwards. Church that night. Christmas Day. My son and his family for breakfast. The crock pot gets going with sausage, meatballs, Italian bread and noodles ready. Second daughter and family around noon. Third daughter at around 6. Not the madhouse like Thanksgiving. Slow and relaxed. Just like it was at my grandparents until I was a teenager, my parents until about 20 years ago. These traditions are why we don’t downsize our house. Next will be New Years, Super Bowl. New years is Chinese and pizza. Super Bowl is home made hoagies. Easter of course too. Summer nothing too hot. Tried to start a NASCAR thing with the big races. No takers.
