Does anybody know what the factory oil fill is for the 2004 Silverado?

Do you mean the viscosity or the actual brand?

Like any other maker, they usually put out a RFQ and pick the lowest bidder that meets minimum specs. Then they order it in for the engine assembly plant in rail cars. So I would expect the actual brand to change.

Last time I remember, GM was partial to Havoline.

I retired from GM Engineering and went to the assembly plants for new model start up and there was usually 4-5 different supplier brands of oil for = transmission, differental, transfer case, engine, power steering, brake fluid, and of course regular gas.
