Yet another shock question

Hey guys,

Well, I am fixing to put a bigger set of tires on the Z. I am gonna try to fit 305/70/16's on. BFGoodrich A/T's. What my questions is, is what would be a good shock upgrade for a truck that goes offroad but takes long trips? I need some suggestions.

If you are keeping the stock rims, you'll wear the center of the tire in no time. You'll have to run lower air pressure so it doesn't ride high in the center of the tire. Which will lower you mileage due to increased resistance. My BIL tried it on his 99 and a month later had to get new rims because he had already worn the center of the tire. Some will say 305's fit, but they don't wear good on 7" rims. Just thought I'd tell you so you won't be surprised of how bad your tires wear. As far as shocks, I've always been happy with Bilstein's. Also heard good things about Edelbrock's. But as far as money and warranty best buy, I loved the Gabriels VST shocks from AutoZone. Cost $25 ea and have a lifetime warranty. I had them until I lifted my truck and needed longer shocks. I currently have Heckethorn shocks for a 2-6" lifted 2500 OBS truck. They have also been nice, at only $29 ea. Got them from JCWhitney.com. Good luck, Chris
