Truck is dying, dying, dying...dead...no its not

Yesterday afternoon when leaving work I had a really strange problem with my 01 Silverado and wonder if any of you might have a clue as to what was going on.

I have had no previous history of hard starting or dying with my truck... until yesterday. In fact there's been no CSK, no valve tick. Simply it's run like a Singer sewing machine.

I started the truck and it died. Repeated twice before pulling into neutral and reving the motor. Pulled out of parking spot and truck died first time I came to a stop. Died at the next five consecutive stop signs/lights. At highway speed seemed to run fine. Finally at the last stop before my destination it sputtered; I jerked it into neutral and floored it. The truck immediately began to run smooth. When I pulled into my parking spot it ran like brand new. Started and restarted 4-5 times smooth as silk. Left truck sitting 1 1/2 hours when I came out truck started and ran great. Drove home no problem. Parked in garage overnight. Truck fired up this morning smooth again.

I can't figure out what was going on. I never got a check engine light or anything. I wonder if there might have been water in the gas. I'd used about 1/4 tank before this happened with no problem. Maybe I've got a self-healing truck. Any ideas?

Possible dirty throttle body? Mine had some of the same symptoms and it was the TB. It choked alot at idle, wanted to die but caught itself before it happened, died once while I was turning, etc - but it ran great at cruising speed.

Cleaned the TB and it runs perfect, now.

definitely sounds like a dirty throttle body to me. mine did the same thing until I cleaned it a year ago. it still starts and runs like a champ now.

My 2000 Z71 Ext Cab died out only one time since new. About two months ago I started it up and it ran for a second then just died. It took a couple of cranks to get it started again and then it ran fine. Go figure. No problems since.

:) I've got a 2002 that did that one time. I started it and it died, Restarted....died. Restarted holding throttle open and would run but then died when I let it idle. After a few minutes it was fine and never has done it again.

So far seems to be the case with my truck. Driven all over the county this afternoon. Not one single problem. One of my buddies drives a F*** Crown Vic and parks next to me. Maybe I got some bad blue oval vibes. Anyway hope it's something that doesn't happen again.
