Hello, I have a 96 C1500 with the 5.7 vortec, I’ve done a lot of work to this truck replaced the engine and got it running. Drove the truck a few times and it wouldn’t start, Fuel pump was whining so I dropped the tank replaced the fuel pump I’ve checked for power at the connector for the pump with a test light I get power on the pink wire. I hear the pump come on and I’m getting fuel spraying from the valve (Haven’t check for pressure reading because I don’t own a gauge) I’ve checked all the fuses related to fuel or ignition and they’re all good. I have not replaced the fuel relay but I assume if I’m getting fuel then it can’t be bad, I also replaced the fuel pressure regulator when I installed the engine) my only guess here would be my spider is bad and I’m hoping someone can point me away from that, I do have another intake with 114,000 miles on it but I really don’t want to pull the motor apart. Any suggestions are helpful and I appreciate it. -Dion

Good possibility it’s the ignition control module.

ICM controls the opening and closing of the injectors.

It’s located on passenger side on coil mount plate. Black with electrical connector. Air box and hose removal makes it easy to get to.

Pressure should be about 50lbs psi so it will be a big squirt at the test port. Have you checked the fuses in the underhood box? Never seen a spider cause a starvation no start, probably not it. Hows the wire connector on top of the plenum that feeds the injectors? biscayne may be right if all else checks out

I figured this so I swapped the one on the truck for another I had from the other intake and same thing.

Haven’t picked up a pressure tester yet but it will spray out pretty far, I checked all the fuses related to fuel or ignition and they were all in working order. I will double check that connecter on top to see if it’s loose, I can hope that’s the issue lol.
