Steel Vs. Aluminum on HD

Recommended Posts

Hey, All -

Anybody have any thoughts on which type of wheel is best suited for a HD? I'm trying to make up my mind between a steel wheel from either US Wheel or Stockton or a set of hot forged aluminum wheels from Alcoa (Classic). I am planning to run 265/75s Es on 16x7s. I wish Alcoa had a brushed finish option as that would make my decision a lot easier.

Any pros and cons of either type?? (balancing, strength, maintenance etc..)

Also, I was told that the M/T Classics by Alcoa were discontinued.

Thanks

Most of the forged ans cast aluminum wheels have just as much payload as the steels. I would think your lugs would give out before any wheel these days anyway. I only advantage to steel is that they would be easier to clean.
