Extended Cab Sub enclosure

Have a '99 Sierra, ext cab, short box. I am looking at getting a 12" R/F or Infinity Sub and put it under the drivers side of the rear seat. Anybody have a good source of sealed boxes that would fit?

Any particular reason why you want the 12" one? And only want one? I only ask because a 12" enclosure actually comes closer to the front of the rear seat, encroaching upon passenger foot space, whereas the 10s are (at least) a good inch further back. That inch can make a world of difference to a passenger.

I have two tens under the rear seat, and it's awesome.

If you want a couple of pics, go here. You can see how close the box comes to the edge of the seat as-is. An enclose for a 12" sub would be even worse.

But to answer your question, the best place I found for a box was a local shop. They had quite a few ready-made, sealed type enclosures for all kinds of trucks just sitting on their floor for sale. Since a lot of shops make their own, and don't have to ship....Their prices are better than anything you can find online....Usually.

Don't go the Best Buys, Tweeters, or Circuit Citys.....Go to a local shop. They are the ones that will have a better selection of boxes that will (generally) sound better. Not to mention the fact that if you are buying from them...They can answer questions about your install on the spot....And are usually happy to do so.

The thing is, I use under the seat for some storage of jumper cables/ maps/ trash/ etc... So I didnt want to take up both sides with subs. I used to have a Rockford Fosgate Punch XLC 12" with a Competition 200 Watt 1-Channel Amp, in a custom made enclosure that I built, and it hit harder and was louder than by buddies 2 10" Phoenix Gold XMax, and 400 Watt Amp. Thats why I want to stick with 12's. Besides, no one really rides in the back seat either, or if they do, its a short hop to a local bar.

Cool. :loser:

My advice on where to buy still stands.....Local shops are likely to have a ready built, single enclosure, just sitting around. At least they do here.

I really can't say enough good things about the JL audio stealth boxes and the Vantage boxes. Amazing sound quality out of them and the vantage stuff inst too pricey

I have an MTX Audio "Thunderform" sub box...

they are custom made for each specific vehicle and are made out of some sort of plastic, and they match the color of your interior. You can by them empty, or with subs and an amp already built in. They have them for 10", 12", and 1 or 2 subs. Here is their website:

Click "car audio products" and "enclousures" and you will see them. I personally have the box for 2 10"...it takes up all of the room under the back seat, but that I why I got a tool box installed in the bed!
