• * Muscle cars ruled: 428 Cobra Jets, 427 Chevys, 426 Hemi Mopars, "She's real fine, my 409"

  * Gasoline was CHEAP. Buy ten gallons and get free Stuckey's box of peanut brittle

  * Slide rules were the thang... pocket calculators were a curiosity

  * Big bad analog power analog amplifiers with hunker tubes pushed music that could be heard for blocks. None of this wimpy digital mess.

  * There was no Madonna, Spears, Spice Girls, boy bands

  * Rock music was "bad to the bone". Ummmm, ZZ-TOP

  * Arabs didn't shove us around and hold us hostage (gasoline imports)

   

I turned 55 last September. The older I get, the more I'm having the time of my life.
