Sensors everywhere?

Last night I crawled under my 2000 Sonoma to hook up a harness for my trailer, and I noticed a connector-looking component just behind the spare tire, hooked to a flange coming down off of the bottom of the bed.  It had a bunch of wires going into it and a blue cap on it with some slots punched down into the cap.  It's about 2 inches long and stamped Delphi.  I thought it might be a hookup for something trailer related, but then I saw shorter green capped versions on both frame rails at the back end of the rails, attached on the inside so dirt wouldn't hit them.  There's also at least one more on the passenger side mounted inside the frame rail.  Are these some sort of sensors for the air bags, or is GM watching my every move?

Also, that "cap" in the bumper that says to remove for trailer ball is way too difficult to remove.  It looks like a great idea, thinking it will just pop out and maybe even back in when done....but the stupid thing has to be cut out with a knife, it looks like crap now.  The plastic is so thick that its impossible to do a neat job.

I'll crawl underneath my truck later and see what it is you are talking about but I doubt they are airbag sensors since our bags are frontal impact seneitive only.

They might be safety related... I searched the Internet for Delphi and cam across http://www.delphiauto.com/

I was under my truck earlier changing my differential fluid and made it a point to check the areas in question.

The blue capped areas are a junction where wires tie in together.I don't think it will unplug and allow you to plug a trailering wire adapter like you could in the early -mid 90's model full size trucks but the wires can be spliced into there(that is how my trailer wires are run).

I have no idea what the green "caps" are but I do have a question into some people who should know.

I'll let you guys know something as soon as I find out.

Sounds Wierd to me too.  But hey you never know what big brother is up to nowadays. I will check back to see what happens and to find out

The best answer that I've been able to come up with for the areas that are "capped" off is that the s-series trucks share the same wiring harness as other vehicles and may not have all of the same options available.

I don't know if this is totally accurate but it would definitely make sense.
