Slight stumble off idle

My truck has a slight stumble when I initially hit the gas from a dead stop. It's worst when cold and barely noticeable when warm. Oddly, it does not happen during hard acceleration from a stop.

 

Where should I start looking?

Could be the throttle body. I know that when mine was dirty my 6.0 was doing all kinds of crazy things: rough idle, wanting to stall at red lights, hesitation at initial acceleration... I cleaned the throttle body and 20 minutes later the SUV was performing perfectly. By the way, my TB had to be cleaned with only 14K on the odometer.

Can the TB be cleaned while on the vehicle (like a carb) or do I need to pull it for proper cleaning?

I didn't pull mine. I just unhooked the hose and sprayed TB cleaner in and around the TB. I also opened the butterfly valve and sprayed both sides of the blade. I waited a few minutes, gently wiped off the gunk and reattached the hose. Worked like a champ.

 

Some folks remove the TB...I would try just cleaning it and running it, first. If it's too dirty you may need to remove it, though.
