Driveline Noise/Vibration

I've had a problem for the past couple of weeks now. I get a "click" noise when I switch from drive to reverse and vice versa. I have a low pitch whining noise when I first pull out until I get up to highway speeds. This noise goes away when I let off the gas pedal and comes right back as soon as I give it gas again. I also have a vibration at highway speeds. And last, I get a growling/rattling noise when I go over bumps. I put it on the lift yesterday. The noise was definately coming from the right rear. Pulled the wheel, caliper, and rotor. When I turned the axle by hand, I could feel that it was not turning smoothly - bad bearing, right? I replaced the bearing and seal this morning, my problem is still there. When you stand behind the pumpkin, the noise is louder towards the right and quieter towards the left. Could it be a bearing inside the pumpkin that is just causing the noise to travel out to the end of the axle? It's not the U-joints, they were replaced about 6 months ago and they still feel tight.

It is possible that the right carrier bearing is going bad, but I wouldn't rule out the u-joints just yet.

Did you actually remove the driveshaft to check the u-joints or just check them by hand ?

Very often you can have a bad joint that can only be felt by articulating through it's entire range with it out of the vehicle.

Hope this helps.
